(last updated: June 2025)
On June 14th, we bring diverse feminist, queer-feminist and anti-patriarchal perspectives to the streets and invite all feminist groups to shape this day with their forms of action. To ensure that the shared demonstration and surrounding actions are as transparent and predictable as possible for all participants, we have developed this action consensus. It serves as a binding framework for all actions supported by the Feminist Strike Collective Basel on the feminist strike day.
June 14th is meant to be a space for women, inter, non-binary, trans and genderqueer people to collectively fight for a society in which all people – regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, race, legal status, age, class, (in)visible disabilities and personal characteristics – can participate equally on all societal levels.
We stand in solidarity with all actions on June 14, 2025 that make (queer-)feminist and anti-patriarchal goals and concerns visible. Actions should reflect diversity and creativity and may include various forms of protest, resistance and civil disobedience.
We want to foster an atmosphere in which all demonstration participants feel comfortable and safe. This means we take care of each other, protect ourselves and others, and respect personal boundaries. Our internal attitude is one of solidarity and openness – even in moments of disagreement. In the context of actions, we act in solidarity and support each other, including in cases of repression or legal issues. We strive to break down barriers to ensure participation for all in the actions organized by the Feminist Strike Collective Basel.
A safe space also means that certain behaviors are explicitly not tolerated:
We prohibit all forms of symbolic or physical violence and any endangerment of living beings. We also reject all discriminatory behavior as well as nationalist or colonialist ideologies and related actions. This applies both to forms of protest and to general demonstration behavior. Content unrelated to feminist concerns or in contradiction to this consensus is not permitted. The demonstration on June 14th is not a platform for self-promotion. Aggressive advertising for political parties or trade unions is not allowed.
Cis men are asked to show solidarity on June 14th and support the strike in the background. In principle, cis men are welcome to attend the demonstration but are expected to march at the back. The front part of the demonstration is explicitly reserved for women, inter, non-binary, trans, genderqueer and agender people.
Those who cannot or do not wish to adhere to this action consensus are not welcome at the demonstration on June 14th.
